Worth noting on Chris Cenac Jr. he is repped by Bill Duffy who of course reps Luka Doncic. Duffy it seems already used some influence to get his client Ayton to LA, maybe we see another C steered that direction. Duffy also reps Slovenian national Jaxson Hayes.

@kangjie6 @Joseph_Duarte I think the draw of Kessler is the elite rim protection that he brings and while he’s not bouncy he is a great finisher. He’s also been playing in a non-competitive environment, maybe that’s a negative, or maybe you get more effort and care playing for a contender.

people talking about kessler like he is something special and i'm wondering if anybody ever seen the guy.. there is a youtube video out there of kessler highlights. Dude is a 7 footer than can barely dunk, not especially tough or a dog, motor is average. I'm thinking luka wants people like he had at dallas.. Tall bouncy, don't need shots, rim protectors.

@24Dparks I absolutely agree, but Duffy has at least shown to be okay with having two of his clients at the same position on this roster. Seems like the writing is on the wall for Ayton in LA, but even if he stayed it could be positioned as short term while Cenac develops potentially.

Agents like to steer complimenting players to each other. They usually don’t want clients that play the same position and will have compete with each other for minutes to play together.

@ClydeLakerBaker I think being concerned about AR is fair, I’m optimistic but to each their own. My hope on the contract is whatever numbers it’s at, it just needs to be tradeable in case that’s the direction they have to go. A descending deal to me is a win-win for everyone

@LakersLens_ I’m less sold on AR but if he returns it’s a good value contract the closer it is to 30 per. At that point, he can play himself self on or off the team. He may be a casualty of still correcting the bad dismantling of the 2020 team.

I want the Luka + Austin pairing to work so bad for the Lakers. I believe it’ll just require a specific team build around them that’s defensive oriented/athletic. When looking at it from that perspective Rui & Ayton don’t fit the starting/closing group. If the Lakers can get those guys coming off the bench on reasonable contracts I think they’ll provide great value.

Houston’s Chris Cenac Jr. has a pre-draft workout with Los Angeles Lakers today, per sources. Lakers have the 25th pick in next week’s NBA draft.

Totally fair and it’s all about the Lakers at the end of the day, if both can happen that would be great if not, that’s okay I’ll just speak for myself in saying that I have a soft spot for Austin. We have seen his whole career which has been really special from UDFA to where he is now. Seeing that entire development arc has been really great and I would love to see that all the way through to a title contender. But if it doesn’t work out, then of course ya gotta move on. From an asset standpoint I don’t think that makes sense this offseason.

@TheSteinLine noting that both Gillespie and Goodwin are likely to be retained by Phoenix is too bad. Both of them would have been good additions in LA. But more pressing, Lakers need to identify talent like that at a lower cost, develop, and most importantly but apparently difficult… retain them.

While I don’t think Denver wants to let him go, depending on their ability to dump Johnson/Braun or Gordon in some way there may be a make them blink number. Unless there has been a change of opinion from Denver ownership to pay the tax. And if that change occurred I’m sure we would be getting leaks left, right, and center that Denver would match anything to try and dissuade offers. Instead it’s been a bit more uncertainty and language focused on how Denver really want to keep him and are focusing on moving other guys to make it happen. Don’t think it’s likely but the door seems slightly open.
