I don’t see the likes of Travis Scott, Future, Roddy Ricch, Gunna, Lil Baby, 21 Savage, Young Thug and their likes as rappers. They can never be rappers to me. They are trap artistes, and maybe it’s time we find a more suitable name like “trappers” or something else for what they do. That style can never be rap in any real sense of it. We can’t go from Nas, Rakim, André 3000, Eminem, J. Cole, Kanye West, and other true MCs and pure rappers to what feels like gibberish. I honestly get offended when I check rap charts on Apple Music or look at Grammy Awards nominations and see artistes like Travis Scott there. Mumbling can never be rap.
