Quick look @ James Voorhies (‘28 elig.) out of @CSUNBaseball. Been a solid arm out the pen for the Matadors (2.51 ERA, 19K/5BB). 90-92 T93 (1) with the FB last Friday. Kick CH was really working @ 83-85 (~1100) showing late depth/tumble producing whiff + chase vs. LHHs. Flashed a SL @ 81-82 as well to RHHs. @PG_Scouting @California_PG

1B/DH Zach Yorke (@GCU_Baseball) is a West Coast bat to follow this season. Was outstanding as a Freshman and hit .368/.471/.549 with 13 2B, 8 HRs, 61 RBIs and a ridiculous 46 BB to 25 Ks. Followed up with an excellent 20-game stint on the Cape in which he posted a .338/.425/.487 slash line with 2 2B, 3 HRs, 19 RBIs and 12 BB to 6 Ks. Took a little bit of a step back last spring, but still managed to hit .285/.390/.478 with 9 2B, 11 HR, 50 RBIs and more BB (41) than Ks (38). Yorke has an extra-large frame at 6'2" and 295-lbs. Simple setup in the box in which he has a slightly open front side and medium-high handset. Noticeable barrel tip in his load that's accompanied by a dropping of his hands, but they don't drift at all. Small stride, head stays still throughout. Takes a direct path to contact and has quickness in his hands. Yorke's best tool is his hit ability. Has plus bat-to-ball skills, and last spring posted an 89% overall IZ contact rate, including 93% against FB. Both his approach and swing decisions are incredibly polished, and last spring his overall chase rate was just 18%. Only a handful of swings came outside of the shadow zone. Advanced feel for the barrel, uses the entire field but his highest quality of contact comes to the pull side. Easy 55 on the hit tool. Yorke also has present impact that he doesn't at all sell out to get to. Posted a 90th EV and Max EV last spring of 105.8 MPH and 110.7 MPH, respectively. The raw power is there with Yorke, especially to the PS, but he could tap into more game power if he's able to get the ball up in the air more. FB+LD% last spring was 41.5%. Defensively, Yorke is exclusively a 1B if anything. Likely ends up as a DH only, but that really isn't a knock on his profile since you're buying the hit-power combination.
