“London has an increasing area of impermeable surfacing and still essentially relies on a Victorian drainage system that was not designed to cope with the city’s current and predicted future populations.” theguardian.com/uk-news/2022/f…

@LandArchDeclare Is it true that the last time such guidance on classroom discussion was issued was around #Section28 ? That seems to resulted in an unwillingness to look at difficult questions or see other peoples views. We need young people to see and respectfully debate other perspectives.

“Where teaching covers the potential solutions for tackling climate change, this may constitute a political issue”. New guidance on political impartiality in the classroom is likely to scare teachers in England away from tackling important subjects theguardian.com/education/2022…

As one of @LandArchDeclare's Founders, we recognise climate breakdown and #biodiversity loss as the most serious issues of our time. The UK media's now also abandoning terms like #climatechange, instead using ‘emergency’ to wake the world up to the crisis. bit.ly/3G4oGjU

Please respond to the #peat consultation: voluntary targets have failed, it's time *now* for a ban on sale of peat products. There should be no delay for the amateur sector & why not use point of sale charges & set a ban date in law for professional use? consult.defra.gov.uk/soils-and-peat…

“For people like us who work with public space, validating the anecdotal knowledge we get on the ground with data is incredibly valuable in communicating the worth of these spaces. Environmental health and public health are one and the same.” theguardian.com/society/2021/d…

Dithering in a crisis. "Peat is the UK’s largest carbon store, trapping as much as tropical rainforests per hectare, but is routinely dug up for horticulture. This releases carbon dioxide, adding to the climate crisis."

“The government said it did not intend to ban the sale of plants in pots that contained peat and that its plans would not affect current licences for peat extraction.” Oh theguardian.com/environment/20…
