The world must not forget communities affected by landmines. This week at the @MineBanTreaty #19MSP, states reaffirmed their commitment to our shared goal of a world without landmines. More needs to be done - and faster - to make it a reality. #LandmineFree2025

Belinda Vause gives HALO's perspective from Sri Lanka where several clearance operators are working together with the government to reach the goal of making the country landmine free - and safer for communities. Sustained support is needed to achieve this ambition.

There is no excuse for delay. Landmine clearance is a humanitarian and environmental priority, Robert Syfret from HALO says. In Angola the negative impacts of landmines on people and communities continue to this day, with more support needed to achieve a landmine free country.

Every number is a life cut short or a limb lost. The latest @MineMonitor reports a 20% leap in casualties from mines and IEDs. Most accidents were recorded in Syria and Afghanistan. Half of all civilian casualties were children. Read more: the-monitor.org/en-gb/reports/…
