You're right! Much easier to use us for all the insurance and cover yourself. @FarmrHuntr is right about how big of a business hunting has gotten. Certainly a missed revenue opportunity to not allow some kind of outdoor recreation on your land.

@FarmrHuntr How much liability risk are farmers not taking on by not charging for hunting? I looked into briefly 20 years ago. My insurance was going to increase by more than the hunting income would be due to the increased liability for their safety I was taking on by charging them.

@Landtrust_ Yes, thanks. Will look into it. The Sandhills of Nebraska are a fantastic place with nearly total private ownership. Night skies and pasture trails might be attractive.

Every pivot corner should be a profit center. Could be the most profitable acreage on your place with some imagination.

One conversation that blew my mind is what @taylorcmoyer is doing with @Landtrust_ Want to book photographers on a sunflower patch? A private golf ⛳️ in your yard? Hunting spot? They’ll insure you, collect payment and split 80/20 🤯 the possible multi enterprises you could make on alternative ag

When @Landtrust_ founder Nic De Castro visited Fairhope, AL, it exceeded what he and his wife were looking for — not in a job, but in a home. Strong schools, walkability and community values made it the right move for their family. Connections and programs like Innovate Alabama’s InvestAL are making it right for De Castro’s business, too. 🔗 innovatealabama.org/stories/2025/0…

I’ve got a hundred elk grazing in my field. It’s pretty neat except they’re eating my winter pasture set aside for the cows.

I am hunting antelope in MT. In a few weeks on a land trust property for the first time. Taking my 2 sons and it cost us around 2k to hunt 50,000 acres with housing. I don’t love paying to hunt property but have limited seasons with my boys and tags are getting harder to draw on public ground out West.

I learned this morning that some farming & ranching operations are making up to six figures annually just charging for hunting access to their land... WITHOUT having to guide hunters or provide lodging.

@clintwfischer Hard enough letting family hunt off my place. Couldn’t imagine the mess others would make.

A great example that quality habitat can provide ROI. Lowest hanging opportuntity in pheasant country is take marginal zones, put back into grass and food plots and almost instantly turn those into most profitable acres on the farm. Great thread @clintwfischer.

For that kind of money it comes down to the game and access to certain units more than the amount of acres. Private land next to hard to draw units.
