High school players and parents… here’s the reality of recruiting. College coaches evaluate size first. Height, weight, and frame matter at every level of college football. Start by being honest and set realistic expectations about where you fit. If you meet the size standards, you still have to produce. Big players are everywhere. Coaches recruit the ones who can run, think, compete, and make plays on film. If you don’t meet the size standards, you must bring something extra. Elite speed. High football IQ. Toughness. Playmaking ability. Know where you stand. Set realistic expectations. Then go to work. Learn more: connectedathletics.org Academics. Development. 104 to 6. 95% of the Florida House of Representatives voted on the right side of history. They saw the struggle coaches have faced. They understood communities across this state are ready to step up to keep coaches in Florida. The vote was bipartisan. Members of both parties came together to finally make this right. It was a powerful moment. For reasons known only to them, 6 members of the Florida House did not. @Robin_Bartleman @RepCampbell_FL @Gantt4Florida Rep. Dianne Hart-Lowman @micheleforfl @RepSkidmore We are not here to relitigate the vote. We are here to talk about reality. When session ends, we extend an open invitation to walk the high schools in your districts with us. Meet the coaches. Sit with them. Hear what the hours look like, what the pay looks like, and what the strain actually feels like. Because for us, this has never been theoretical. It has been lived experience for decades. Then there is Broward. No county lit up our phones more than Broward County last night. That should tell you something. Rep. Bartleman, you served 16 years on the Broward School Board. When you left in 2020, many coaches were still receiving the same supplements they earned in 1990. The scale had not moved in 30 years. Your district includes Weston and Southwest Ranches. But the calls we received last night were not from Cypress Bay. They came from Miramar, from coaches working multiple jobs just to stay afloat. Rep. Campbell, coaches at Plantation, South Plantation, Piper, Dillard, and Boyd Anderson said they have never met you. They respect your mental health advocacy. They want you to understand what this job and this system are doing to theirs. If you want to understand this issue, step into your schools and see the reality your coaches are living every day. We’ll reach out to each of you in April. Not as adversaries. As Floridians serious about educators and the coaches overlooked for 50 years.
