How do you inspire kids to read? Try reading yourself! Let them see how much you love books! I think this image by @chrisriddell50 says it all - but it's also true for parents, librarians, booksellers. All adults can model the love of books & inspire kids to read! #literacy

I've said this before & I'll say it again. READING FOR PLEASURE has the most powerful positive impact of any factor on children's life chances. So if you want to change their lives - make books & reading central to everything you do. And let them enjoy it! #literacy

Our S6 Literacy Ambassadors had their first meet up at lunch and it was fantastic to hear how their first week in S1-3 classes has been 🤩 Great to see how involved they’ve been getting and they already have some excellent ideas to try going forward! 👏🏼📚#LALiteracyAmbassadors

As we look forward to the official launch of #WorldBookDay 2023 tomorrow, we want to share some of the impact World Book Day made in 2022. 
 For many children, the £1/€1.50 book ‘bought’ with their World Book Day book token had been their first book of their own.

Today our new S6 Literacy Ambassadors took part in Three Sharings training in preparation for their involvement in supporting our S1-3 reading classes from next week. Great to see so much enthusiasm and some excellent discussion! 📚 #readingforpleasure #LALiteracyAmbassadors

Looking forward to our Mental Health Awareness day with our S3 pupils on Monday 💚 Delighted to be working with @TeamLamh and can’t wait for our workshops, everything from crochet 🧶 to Clubbercise 🪩 @LarkhallAc

Our S1-3 pupils pledged 6 minutes to the #keeptheheidandread initiative and during our daily reading period today they discussed the benefits that reading can have on mental health and wellbeing 📚🧠 #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek2022
