Getting youth physically off the street is just the beginning. It takes wraparound service, including support like SNAP benefits. A young person who hasn't eaten can't focus on a job interview or a housing application... That’s what we’re building, and we’re not letting up.

State lawmakers are making budget decisions this week that directly affect homeless youth in California. Public comment hearings are one of the most meaningful ways to make sure youth aren't forgotten in that conversation. You don't need to be an expert—you just need to show up.

(1/2) Youth homelessness isn't a separate issue from CA’s broader homelessness crisis. It's the beginning of it. Without support at a critical moment—at 19, 21, 23—the path forward gets narrower. The longer someone goes without stable housing, the harder it becomes to find it.

Since 2021, we’ve served 90,000 hot meals to nearly 3,000 youth–made possible with funding from the CalOES program–because a young person who hasn't eaten cannot focus on a job interview, do homework, complete a housing application, or absorb what a counselor is telling them.
