California law requires juveniles convicted of even the most serious crimes, including murder, to serve their sentences in county juvenile halls, with release required on or before their 26th birthday. Many juveniles convicted of murder serve only 2-3 years before being released. Gary Grover was convicted as a juvenile of murder and attempted murder. Since his release, our Gang Suppression Unit has arrested him 3 times for illegal firearm possession. He led Deputies in a vehicle pursuit, crashed into innocent motorists, failed to appear in court 4 times, accumulated multiple felony no bail warrants, and once again required a foot pursuit before being taken back into custody. “Reforms” to California’s juvenile justice laws have gone too far. Enough is enough.
