This weekend, I celebrate my birthday and one year since I began fundraising to eradicate #malaria. In the past year, I climbed the 14,690-ft Matterhorn and drove my motorbike 5,000km from London to the Sahara. Both undertakings were challenging, memorable, and rewarding. Thanks to those who sponsored me, I've now raised over $100,000. As I look to the year ahead, my determination to continue this fight to eradicate malaria in memory of my sister Else is as firm as ever. And it can be done (on.ft.com/45zBLzg). Done! Started in darkness at 4.45 a.m. with headlamps, and the climb took 7 hrs 40 mins. I am not embarrassed to admit it was the hardest thing I’ve ever done in my life. Considered turning around many times, but thoughts of this campaign, my family, and my dad, kept me going. It felt like a battle of the mind and the lungs. The day was not without incident -- one climber had to be evacuated by helicopter (which also happened the day before). And while I’m never making a climb like this ever (ever) again, I feel that I’m only just getting started with regards to malaria. I’m more motivated than ever.
