I’m completely in love with this! ❤️ Every time I hear them, I’m spellbound — the harmony, the energy, the beauty! Truly magical to see and hear them perform together. 💐

An unforgettable @TheAcademy Awards moment was when his friends Francis Ford Coppola, George Lucas, and Steven Spielberg handed Martin Scorsese his first Best Director Oscar in 2007 after five prior nominations (Raging Bull, The Last Temptation of Christ, Goodfellas, Gangs of New York, and The Aviator).

Martin Scorsese won his only Oscar for Best Director for this movie, and it was well deserved.

This scene always makes me want to cry 😭😭
The deaf little girl in this scene was played by a real deaf child, Samantha Krieger. When Santa begins signing to her in American Sign Language, her reaction is genuine. The moment wasn’t rehearsed so the surprise and joy you see are real. One of the film’s most quietly powerful scenes.
