@ashesnghost I have so many conflicting emotions about this that I'm not sre how to respond. The general consensus seems to be that we appreciate it.

@LastThingNeeded I know if she DID find out, it would affect her deeply & I dont really want that for her tbh But my point is, you probably have people in your life who notice you, who see and appreciate you, who probably even love you deeply, even if they aren't an active presence

Sorry for the trauma post for anyone new or old. Literally nobody would care if I disappeared forever... I know because I've gone radio silent for months before and nobody reached out to even check if I was ok, and my relationships are not in a better place now.

Whilst I'd normally agree with this take of it being oversaturated style wise if it was for general art enjoyers, VGen was created specifically for VTubers originally, which follows a "anime style" trend. There are plenty of artists with different styles on the platform that do not see clients due to the main style that sells being "anime".

So I looked through the VGen front page and... yeah. This is a big problem. Look at all these artists. 99% of them draw in an anime or at least anime-adjacent style. You know that feeling when you're browsing Netflix trying to find something to watch, and there's just way too much content, so you get analysis paralysis and just wind up closing the app and watching something you've seen a billion times before? Yeah, this is that. Too much of the same. If you're an anime-style artist and are hoping to get on VGen, you're gonna be competing in an absolutely hypersaturated market and it's gonna be extremely difficult for you to stand out. People who have a more unique style are going to stand out here and draw eyeballs. If you're a new artist who's looking to get into commission work in 2026, consider going somewhere less crowded where it's easier to stand out.

A lot of these VTuber hot takes are just sad to scroll through. It’s a lot of fearmongering like: “Your oshi hates you” “VTubers don’t care about you” “Your design is boring” It’s all really exhausting to scroll through. Can you bookmark this post and say something nice about VTubers in the comments? That way, in case trends like this try to give you brain worms, you can always come here and see a kind comment. Your design isn’t boring, Your content matters and you’re appreciated.

If you’re not comfortable drawing something due to your lack of knowledge for the theme for a commission, maybe you shouldn’t mark up the price by 400%, just saying. Stop taking advantage of people who don’t know better.

As an artist online, I cannot STRESS enough how much easier and enjoyable it becomes when you make yourself some art friends. Creatives you can discuss your work with, share ideas, ask for feedback on your work. Not only this, but I find it helps us all with productivity and keeping the creative juices flowing when we’re all sharing our work to each other. I’ve gotten so much more energy to work on art once I’ve opened up a Discord for artists. You don’t have to do it all alone. I’m not saying going up to an artist and asking to be friends. Start posting on their art, like their works. It’s so much more fulfilling seeing my friend’s WIPs, how much I see them improve over time. And at the same time, they’re helping me in the exact same way.

@itsmisasoup This is true but I also feel its more of a result of the panic that comes from being a struggling artist than a mark on their character.

art is a luxury. you can't expect people to drop 1k+ on a custom vtuber model and say "customizables are stealing jobs". maybe you just suck at advertising your art. i know people who collect live2d models like pokemon. tell us WHY we should purchase YOUR luxury.
