found a way to make sheik ganon even easier. one of the only risks is going for the cg (unnecessary but still rly good cause its a 0-death) and getting stomp grabbed. u can sdi the stomp up during whiffed grab lag and go too high to get stomp grabbed, making it safer to go for

@Sparkmelee god can you imagine entering a tournament and every single chungus character you run into is Luigi

from this point onward all melee tournaments will allow only a subset of characters, and it's up to u and u alone to decide which melee will be played from this point forward. which one u picking/richest meta?

@Cyrain through a wire, it's essentially deterministic what they'll do because the law of large numbers means essentially you'll get the average.

@Cyrain It technically stops things from being deterministic, but the randomness occurs at such a small level that the patterns are effectively deterministic. An individual electron has random rates of tunneling through a barrier, for example, but if 10^20 electrons /sec are traveling

Can anyone who actually knows things explain to me how true randomness occurring on a quantum level wouldnt fundamentally prevent, like, anything from being deterministic at all? Assuming true randomness is actually real, that is.

@radarssbm I can understand not finding it fun to watch (although I think it's cool) But what's wrong with playing against it?

@Laudandus I never described it as defensive as far as I recall, I just said it was boring haha. No one is saying this doesn’t take skill, I am literally just saying it’s not fun to watch, or play against in my opinion. Obviously I still respect Trif as a player

@radarssbm You would think he was "more aggressive" if he dashed away when the Falcon was air planking above him because he was moving more, but standing still under the falcon is a calm yet aggressive declaration of his superior skill

@radarssbm He's intelligently interacting with every completely randomly placed move the falcon does. It's not even "defensive", he kills the falcon on every interaction, and he's comfortable standing still at a much closer range than the falcon, who panics when they're close

@JDjumpdust I could understand the opposite perspective better if I didn't think they were just externalizing how bad they feel about losing to blaming a character; I don't think their experience of the game actually gets better, and they'll just find something else to blame feeling bad on

weird post. the people who are still playing cf are the people who love cf. let them do whatever they want with the game... anything that keeps that spark alive for as long as possible i get the pov but such a put-down judgy way to say it for no reason

@Sparkmelee While sheik technically cooks the chungus characters, because of their invalidating chain grabs on her she, in some ways, has to perform rocket science

yes, sheik cooks marth and all of the chungus characters. but she must perform rocket science to defeat fox, who 50% of melee's community plays. fox gets to mash his face at sheik and ambiguous di tech in place, but have u seen him against marth? or um. donkey kong?

do not be angry towards a character in melee. every character is crucial for the health of melee's ecosystem as a whole. nobody has it easy all the way yes, marth cooks the space animals. but he must perform rocket science against all 24 chungus characters, including himself.

I am genuinely so pissed by this. How can you have this level of uncertainty and still be motivated to drive the technology further. Genuinely unhinged, and I don't understand why this clip hasn't gotten more buzz. It's so utterly fucked up.

(Continental philosopher): Without 5, we could not count to 6. (Me): Yes. (Continental philosopher): It could be said 6 is consequently in the 5-shadow, the forthcoming of 6 is 5-heralded, that 5 springs necessarily from the recapitulation of 6. (Me, checking my watch): Yes.

@ApolloKage The Elephant in the Brain is about how the conscious mind is just an interface for interacting with / manipulating people and isn't in charge or informed Surfing Uncertainty is about how perceptions aren't "turn the information incoming into a pattern", they involve prediction

Rest in peace Taki. I met him all the way back in 2005 at my first smash tournament ever. He invited me and many others to Duquesne nightspot on Friday evenings to play and that was the birth of Pittsburgh smash as we know it today. You’ll be sorely missed 💕
