SO HAPPY you came here. Did you get the idea from Representative Jay Dean's cherry picked posts that it was about classroom teachers? If so, I completely see why you'd be upset! TOTALLY understand! We can't control what he says and he has been blocking people telling the truth. Melissa Beckett hasn't been on our social media since 2023 - and we are all volunteers rotating in and out. Why would he tie anything to her and not bother to ask either her or US if she said XYZ? So glad you came here so we can clarify! We're talking about this. One superintendent recently got a payout of over $300,000 despite breaking a contract. What happens to a teacher who breaks her contract? SREC referral?? These salaries are far beyond the pay of the governor, and the chart doesn't even include stipends, bonuses, benefits, luxury slush funds, and of course payments into both TRS and sometimes also 403 accounts. Often, they set their own performance goals. Teachers don't typically get to give 360 feedback on their superintendents. Lots of things to discuss. Guessing you're waiting for a cost of living increase, too.

@TitPostLeft 34 year in public education. Maybe it wasn't directed at you individualy but just as a general statement for all parents. Some parents do need clarity on when you should keep a child home. My school sends out a similar reminder frequently.
