Jose thinks just giving azzi minutes will shut everyone up. He needs to actually do his job and draw up plays for her. He needs to get her comfortable shooting. Not letting her develop will cost this team so many games but Jose’s ego is too big.

This is the player Arike has been for 7 years. Selfish and inefficient. She will have great games but she is not consistent. Dallas resigned her and now Jose is surprised about selfish players when everyone was telling him/curt this. Arike is gonna cost Dallas so many games.

@WNBAZodiac Hard to win when arike is shooting 2/11, the bigs can’t protect the rim, and the coach doesn’t know what he’s doing. Azzi could have been more aggressive, but this loss was definitely not on her. She was +11.

If Jose can’t figure it out with Azzi then they either need to fire him or trade Azzi. Jose may not have wanted Azzi but it’s his job as a coach to get their no 1 pick involved in his scheme. However if the FO is happy the current system and can’t fit Azzi in, trade her asap.

@ATRJESUSWBB Absolutely like there’s a reason Azzi is the first no 1 pick to come off the bench in like 10 years. It would be one thing if Azzi was performing poorly and coming off the bench would be better, but she wasn’t even given a chance. Thats not how a no 1 draft pick should be treated

What people may fail to understand about Azzi’s debut is that a #1 draft pick should always start at the beginning of their career until otherwise proven they shouldn’t be a starter. To not start Azzi is foul. It wasn’t the right thing to do. It’s the principle of the matter.

@gioocas It is premature to talk about trades, because things can definitely improve. But if this game was a reflection on how they want to use Azzi, then she should absolutely be traded. It’s not surprising fans want more for her than to rot on the bench and get 2 FGA.

Azzi shouldn’t be happy about not starting. She doesn’t have to be a diva about it. She’s an unselfish person and a team player, but she should not be happy about not starting. So I don’t think it matters what Azzi’s friends think tbh. Dallas just publicly embarrassed her.

I really do get it’s only one game, but this was a historically bad first game for Azzi, which sucks. I just want Azzi to succeed, and if it continues like this then she needs to go to a better fit.

@MikeLeslieWFAA Azzi is the no 1 pick. You dont draft someone no 1 to come off the bench, and you definitely don’t draft someone no 1 to get 2 FGA. If they didn’t have a vision for Azzi to make an immediate impact for the first game they should have not drafted her or traded the pick.
