The older I get the more I realise how important it is to show up for people. We all have a thousand things to do, busy and weighed down and so it means so much more when the people you love take time to show you they love you. I really treasure it.

Our music travelled at sea. Fishermen from different parts of the coast across Africa employed the popular “Jama” clap as leverage to pace themselves when mending their fishing nets. Rhythm was important to keep everyone in sync. There is a very strong relationship amongst Gas and Yorubas through language, music and culture. It don’t matter how much success I’m getting. The key to humility is remembering that promotion comes from the Lord and that the same way things are given to you is the same way it can be taken.
