@katie_prout @lithub Thank you for sharing. It's criminal how MFAs insist writers should be "starving artists" in order to be valid. I work a very well-paid 9-5 job + write in my spare time (6AM, lunch breaks, evenings), and I've written 3 novels since I finished my MFA in 2011. You CAN have both!

Shout out to all the first generation students starting college this week. Universities are cool but bizarre places with strange expectations around social & cultural capital that can be tough to navigate. Don’t stress about that. You deserve to be there. You’re gonna be great.

There’s an Olympic event where they have to ski AND shoot guns which is exactly how I imagine people in like Michigan have to live to survive
