According to the new report, police were attacked 2,967 times, more than eight attacks per day. A total of 804 officers were injured, the highest figure ever recorded. The report notes that 53% of attackers were migrants without German citizenship, and half of them were under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Train stations have become major crime hotspots, with over 1,000 crimes reported daily. Across 5,700 stations and trains nationwide, 381,894 crimes were recorded in 2024, a 51% increase compared to 2019. Sexual assaults were among the most frequent crimes at stations, with 2,262 incidents in 2024 - up 19.2% from the previous year, averaging six per day. More than half were sexual harassment cases, but the report also includes sexual assaults, rapes, and sexual crimes against minors. Overall violence at stations rose to 27,160 cases (+5.9%), with nearly 60% involving bodily harm. Knives were used in 609 incidents.
