I’ve been making men irrationally angry since birth. I have dealt with their violence and abuse for a lifetime. One thing that transitioning provided me was shelter from misogyny and men. As a trans man, I was treated with so much respect from men, it was astonishing every single time. In my career, it was like night and day seeing how women and men get treated differently in the law. I could walk at night without that pervasive fear of having to cross the street when a man passed me. I worried less about my physical safety. The list goes on. It shut off the spigot of overt misogyny for some years (minus from trans identified males). That spigot has not only been turned back on, it’s spraying at my face like a fire hydrant. Welcome back to womanhood I guess.

February 2012. My very first Instagram pic. My ex girlfriend took this of me in one of my favorite dive bars. The girl in this pic would have never considered transitioning. I look through the whole of my instagram and I can see how the T changed me over the years. It’s hard not to feel as if I’ve ruined myself. Transitioning has irreversible effects and consequences. This is not some game of let’s give everyone hormones & see who comes out ok in the wash.

Love me or hate me, I will be writing about detransition/ex-trans related topics. Given that I started in the community at the age of 14 & that I was trans for 7 of those 29 years, I have a story to tell. It’s going to be one that naturally pisses people off. The movement needs voices like mine to come out and talk about it. You can cast me aside or you can understand that I’m a very effective advocate with a lot of experience in politics and organizing. Do you want to get somewhere or do you want to continue arguing with me over what I said or did? Detrans voices do matter. I was raked through the coals for months & now I want to fight back.
