@ballsdotie Spillane still hasn’t got over the Dubs being the greatest GAA team of all time which is so gratifying! The Dubs & their supporters are only interested in winning Sam not a now meaningless Provincial Final so many stayed away having gone to the hurling game in galway the day b4!

(1) the hurlers played the previous day in Galway so joint supporters chose that meaningful game
whilst
(2) the Leinster football final was not a meaningful game for the Dubs as their only focus is the Championship!

Dublin getting a lot of flak for small turnout at Leinster final... Why? I'm going to defend them.
1. Always been small hardcore.
2. Never been a wildly big GAA county.
3. Everywhere is fair weather to point. Kildare and Meath used to fill Croke Park, now couldn't fill a phone box.
4. Dublin won everything and now this is night beside that day.
5. Cost of tickets.
6. Cost of living.
7. It's on TV.

Agreed.. Irish Times polls have consistently lacked any credibility.. over the past few years they were giving Aontú 0% or a maximum of 1% when clearly they were @ 4%…now polling at 6/7% but they still have them at 4%! don’t pay any heed!

I would be highly wary of this poll's accuracy. According to this poll, it's a 2 way race between Seán Kyne and Noel Thomas, but I am very, very sceptical. I really can't see Ogbu on 12%, and I can't see Lohan from Sinn Féin on 7%. Also the Fine Gael number seems too high, almost the same as the GE and FG have lost about 20% of their support since then according to polling. Seems implausible. Remember also that by-election polls in Ireland have traditionally been extremely inaccurate, to the point of telling us virtually nothing, (see below), and Ipsos has consistently been the least accurate pollster in Ireland over the past 15 years, consistently overexaggerating FFFG support and downplaying smaller opposition parties (see a damning analysis of their performance in electiona here, "Ireland’s Three Electorates: Examining Irish Polling Accuracy", theburkean.ie/articles/2026/…). Be very sceptical.
