The Manchester Innocence Project (MIP), at the University of Manchester, is seeking enquiries from people who believe they have been wrongfully convicted of criminal offences, in the Magistrates’ Court, under the Coronavirus Act 2020 and the Health Protection Regulations 2020.
Undergraduate law students will assess enquiries, and review the available evidence, before deciding whether to take a case on a pro bono basis.
If a case is accepted MIP will partner with law firm(s) to appeal to the Crown Court or apply to the Criminal Cases Review Commission (if appeal is refused or client pleaded guilty) in order to seek a referral to the Crown Court.
Enquiries should be sent via email to free.legal@manchester.ac.uk
