@Polerider3 @libhawkish This is the exact area we keep the silos, and a primary target in any exchange. He still should be fine as long as he is more than ten or so miles from the fields and has a decent basement he can stay a week or too in. But basically anywhere else that’s remote is better.

As someone with an extreme fear of nuclear war, I've made the decision to move the family to somewhere safer--rural North Dakota. About as far as you can get from population centers. If nothing else, we'll be safe from the warheads.

@NBCNews The fact you even considered making this a story is the most damning possible insight into how terrible the media tends to be. You should be ashamed and appalled but I’m sure that would cause you to lose a minute from your busy day misinterpreting stories, and also 50¢ or so.

@AST_ute @chrismaheras_ It’s because you say it in that order and there is zero reason to change it. How does “smaller period of time to larger” have any actual advantages and make any more sense?

@S_D_S_1988 @robert_savitsky @smmmmss2 @RightWingCope Falcon nines do not fail. You may be confusing the operational rocket family with the one in development, which has exploded a couple of times on test flights with no payload. SpaceX had launched more orbital missions this year so far than the rest of the world combined.

@UpdatingOnRome My understanding was that Greek and Roman gods co-developed from the same source, but had split before they even settled in Italy and Greece. They also frequently shared myths and customs through Mediterranean trade routes, but the Roman’s already had their own equivalent gods.

@3Dmattias @62MileClub People rarely stay in an office 24/7, they leave on occasions such as nights, weekends, and lunch breaks. They also don’t generally like the cubicles, though it varies.

@62MileClub People have worked in office cubicles for decades with a slightly less glorious purpose than going to another world. 6 months is nothing.

BTW it looks all but certain 2 out of 22 Starlink satellites on just-launched Group 7-16 are actually “Starshield” sats of the US military: * Mysterious drop outs in live cam feeds from the 2nd stage during ascent * No forward looking camera views seen as per usual practices

@RobbieJ377 @ChrisMaidmentNH @MarioNawfal It is very impractical for ANY kind of large mechanical device to have 100% availability, as repairs, upgrades, and regular maintenance do actually have to exist. This goes for everything from trains to air conditioning units, and it’s especially true for planes of all kinds.
