Cinemaware was known for bombastic graphics, movie like cutscenes and excellent story-telling. A game that fits that reputation perfectly is Rocket Ranger from 1988. A cool intro, incredibly detailed graphics, massive character sprites, and a great soundtrack - all leading into the classic "good vs evil" story - whether by blasting Nazi Fräuleins with a 1940s laser gun or going one-on-one with epic Zeppelins. Rocket Ranger was pure fun, and ultimately that's exactly what games should be. For 1988, this was a visual masterpiece - a genuine feast for the eyes. The action sequences weren't the most original in concept, but they looked so incredible that you couldn't help but get completely lost in the game. Cinemaware delivered in a big way. My only real criticism is the punishing difficulty level and the lack of a save feature (which wasn't witchcraft anymore in 1988). It was incredibly frustrating to make it far into the game, only to die and have to start all over again. Other than that it's a 10 out of 10 game and part of what make Cinemaware so special in that era.

🚨 Fapiao is NOT just a receipt in China. No fapiao = no tax deduction, no company reimbursement, no proof. Expats especially get burned: flights, client meals, hotels that can be reimbursed to you by your company-without a proper fapiao, you eat the cost. I learned this the hard way last summer booking a Qatar Airways flight directly. Nice receipt, zero fapiao. My company denied my reimbursement. I should have booked through a Chinese agent to get a fapiao. Always demand the fapiao. Your wallet depends on it. #ChinaLife #Fapiao #ExpatsInChina #ChinaBusiness #TaxSurvival

@saarvicular Absolutely delusional. SOME Indians make pretty good engineers, most of them are far more braincells short to keep from shitting all over themselves. That wasn't a mic.

Yo, I’ve been seeing a TON of this ignorant hate lately. People dragging Indians for “not serving in the US military.” Are you fucking kidding me?! Why the hell would we waste America’s TOP MINDS on the front lines getting blown up?! Indians built Silicon Valley, run half the tech giants, dominate medicine, engineering, and innovation. We’re the ones coding the drones, designing the weapons systems, keeping the economy humming so this country can even AFFORD a military. We’re doctors saving your asses in hospitals, not cannon fodder in some desert. You want bodies? Go recruit from the groups that aren’t carrying the GDP on their backs. Stop the racist cope. Indians contribute more to America in one fiscal quarter than most critics do in a lifetime. Protect the brains. The front lines aren’t for the people keeping this superpower alive. Mic drop 🇮🇳 🇺🇸 🧠

To all my foreign friends who think we’re weird for this: When Japanese people finish cooking rice in a rice cooker, the very first thing we do is… stir it vigorously with a rice paddle. Foreigners: “Wait… you actually MIX the rice right after it’s done?!” Yes. And there’s a very good reason. Stirring (or “fluffing”) releases the trapped steam so the rice doesn’t get soggy. It also evens out the temperature so every grain is perfectly cooked — no hard top and mushy bottom. It’s not just a random habit. It’s the secret to getting that light, fluffy, restaurant-quality Japanese rice texture. We don’t do it because we’re OCD. We do it because we take our rice very seriously 😂 So… do you stir your rice after cooking, or do you just leave it? Tell me your country’s rice etiquette. I’m genuinely curious!

An African man is now suing the Japanese government. A Tokyo court rejected his application for naturalization because he lacks sufficient Japanese language skills. His response? He is demanding ¥3.3 million in damages for the “stress” this decision caused him. This is not integration. This is entitlement. He wants the immense privilege of becoming Japanese, but refuses to meet the most basic requirement — the ability to speak and understand the language of the country he wishes to join. Japan is not a welfare office. Japan is not a hotel. Citizenship is not a right. It is a privilege earned through respect and effort. Japan has every right to decide who becomes one of its own. This case is a perfect example of why careful immigration control matters. Japan must protect its culture, its language, and its future.

Classic shoot 'em ups in the 80s and early 90s were great. The premise was always the same: horizontally or vertically scrolling, you blast through waves of enemies with boss fights at the end of each level. Along the way you collect power-ups, shields, etc. to make your ship stronger. There you go, that describes about 95% of them. So how do you stand out? Graphics play a big role, of course. Sound effects and music matter. Power-up mechanics can too - maybe even adding a strategic choice of picking up an upgrade or passing it to keep a better-suited weapon system. Crisp controls and precise collision detection are essential. Do all those well and you have a pretty good game. Enter Battle Squadron from 1989. To this day, still one of my favorite shoot 'em ups. Classic as they come, excellent graphics. I wish it had gotten a sequel.
