Do you want to give your blog a voice ? 🔉 How we turned posts into audio with open models, locally, on a Mac with mlx . At first it might seem easy. Grab the first text-to-speech library you find, point it at a markdown file, and let it talk. We tried that early on, just to feel the shape of the problem. The result was instructive. By instructive I mean: it sounded awful. I wrote an article on @LayerXlab detailing the entire process, from the three stages pipeline, to how we run it on a laptop. blog.layerx.xyz/audio-narratio…

Yesterday I spent the day mentoring at Agents Day Lisbon. Honestly, picking 5 projects to go on stage was brutal, so many great builds. What stood out: people from completely different backgrounds shipping real products. Doctors, marketers, sales folks, each one solving their own very specific problem first. That's the magic. The wall between "I have this pain" and "I built a thing that fixes it" is basically gone. The teams that stood out had 3 things in common: 1. They scoped tight. One workflow, one outcome, not "an agent that does everything". 2. They owned their data layer. The winning teams weren't the ones with the fanciest model, they were the ones who'd actually thought about what context the agent needed, where it lived, what it does. 3. They treated the agent like a product, not a demo. Error states, fallbacks, a real user in mind. You could tell within 30 seconds which teams had used their own thing. Compared to hackathons 12 months ago, the production speed is wild. Teams shipped in a day what used to take a weekend. Also: met so many new people yesterday. Going in to help and walking out having learned just as much, and that's the part nobody tells you about mentoring.
