You can pay for a beer in South Africa with Bitcoin Lightning using @LayerZWallet. (If you don't like beer ... well, you can pay for anything, anywhere that @ZapperTM or ScantoPay is accepted) Shoutout to @LouisNel, who sent the video & @MoneyBadgerPay, who made the integration possible! @GarethGrobler @BitcoinZAR

@Sir44_ @evankaloudis @bc1nuno @bamskki @ZeusLN Most users don’t jump from zero to perfect self-custody in one move. The better approach is giving them a clean path: easy entry, clear recovery, and gradual movement across Bitcoin rails without forcing them to learn every tradeoff on day one

Zeus is a great wallet. But I’m sure the developers of Lightning wallets, especially LSPs like Zeus and Phoenix, must be asking themselves: Why do most users, beginners and non-beginners alike, gravitate toward small custodial Lightning wallets? The answer is simple: those wallets let users accumulate small amounts of sats directly, without needing to open a channel with a large upfront amount. There’s also the ability to exit the Lightning Network once you’ve accumulated a meaningful UTXO size, say 0.01 BTC, and move funds to a cold or hot wallet, all without leaving the app or being forced to close a channel, which is costly. Most people today are stacking Bitcoin with a single Lightning custodial (exchanges and lightning banks), which is too risky and wrong. Lightning wallet developers need to be humble and understand this reality. That the end user want to move between the lightning and the main network without doing any additional steps. (Send) > bitcoin on hot wallet or cold wallet. The solution is to integrate both custodial and non-custodial options within the same app, and to help everyday users move from the Lightning Network back to the base layer without having to leave the app to use external services like Boltz. These features (Boltz) need to be built-in. Cypher Box, takes an interesting approach, instead of relying on a single custodian (as most people do today), it distributes risk across multiple custodians. Once you’ve accumulated enough across those custodians, you can consolidate to a single trusted one like Liquid or Coinos, and immediately move the funds to your hot wallet, without having been dependent on one custodian throughout the entire accumulation period.

This is the first wallet that lets you “see” Bitcoin. Some of our devs thought this complex task was a waste of time. My sister (frontend dev) and I knew that it would take us many days to design and implement into code throughout all the app modules. But we did it anyways! Most people only look at their balance, but Bitcoin exists as individual “UTXO coins,” just like gold comes in coins or bars. Learning to spend, receive, and merge or split UTXOs strategically can save on fees and enhance your privacy. We did it because we care about Bitcoin adoption for nontechnical folks and this may help them visualise the implications of mismanaging their UTXOs. What do you think? Was it an overkill?

We take Bitcoin gamification seriously! That’s why we designed funky UTXO capsules so users can estimate their size at a glance, simply by looking at their color and intensity 💊 Label > select > spend 😎

@GlennCharlesPh1 @_BTCStrategist @CashApp This kind of feedback matters more than another spec debate. The winners in Bitcoin wallets will be the ones that keep self-custody intact while making movement between savings, spending, and payment rails feel natural instead of intimidating

It is absolutely fantastic. One of the nicest things about the Bitkey App is the ability to set a $$ limit on what can be moved from cold storage w/o having the device in person. I used this when traveling overseas. Move BTC out of cold storage to CashApp, convert to $$, use cash app card to pay travel bills. It worked fantastic. From a consumer point of view, I personally think it is the best HW wallet out there.

@LiteBits_io This is exactly the direction Bitcoin wallet UX needs: users caring less about which rail they’re on and more about ‘can I just pay?’ Cross-rail flows that preserve self-custody are where the real usability gains are!

Blockstream's mobile wallet now supports Lightning-to-Liquid swaps via Boltz. Pay a Lightning invoice directly from Liquid Bitcoin. No channel management. No inbound liquidity headaches. The UX gap between Lightning and regular Bitcoin payments is closing fast.

@visionario_btc @flashnet That's right. Simply hold USDb and receive BTC interest on those funds. No lockup, no staking, you can use the USDb at any time.
