As a rule of thumb, I'm not really into Bitcoin yield. It always seemed to me that it's not worth pulling my BTC from a cold wallet only to earn a 1.4% APY lol. But I'm making an exception with @Stacks. They've been running a Stacking mechanism for 130 cycles now, distributing ~4,000 BTC in rewards, that's ~10% APY in actual BTC. The Stacking is pretty simple: - Lock your STX for a cycle - Miners use that commitment to participate in block production - Earn BTC rewards in return No other Bitcoin L2 was able to offer something even close to these rewards. In 2021 I mined 1.55 ETH into a crypto wallet. When I needed to access it recently my seed phrase didn't work in any standard tool. Turns out the wallet software (coinwallet) back in 2021 had a bug that gave people the WRONG SEED PHRASE! Anyone who created a wallet during that period can't access it by normal approaches. Sobering reminder of how fragile the system can be when you you don't take it seriously. Self custody is important but even more important is how you approach it. Learn how storage works and what options you have - make sure your solution is a fit for your circumstances and have a back up plan. Most importantly - test your plan!

Interesting take on L2s. LayerZ integrates Lightning and bitcoin L2s for secure, fast BTC usage without the risks. There are trade-offs with L2s like privacy in Spark/Ark, but you have to weigh that against programmability improvement over native BTC. What L2 features matter most to you?

One of the more reasonable rejections from the anti-BIP110 camp is that we shouldn't reject all L2's. Lightning network being a prime example mentioned for its scaling purposes. Let's not omit the fact that +90% of L2's are: - shitcoins - gambling apps (like DeFi) Majority of "scaling layers" will involve stablecoins (borderline CBDC's) for swapping or "wrapped Bitcoin" that isn't actual Bitcoin and serves to scam your Bitcoin into a centralized VC entity. Scrutiny must be upheld. The less L2's, the better.
