The chronic mismanagement of Thames Water is why I called a debate on its future in Parliament yesterday. Sadly, stories like Len and Jenny's of sewage in peoples homes are all too common. If Thames Water cannot be trusted to do the basics, then what can they be trusted to do?

The Liberal Democrats have long argued for shifting the big levers on the economy to make a difference to people's lives. That's why we are pushing for a Customs Union with the EU. We have to see shifts in the economy so that small business can thrive.

Since 2019, the NHS has spent more money on maternity negligence claims than the entire NHS maternity budget for same period. Investment now in maternity services will reap rewards very quickly. The Government does not need to wait for the Amos review to start making a change.

It's #SmallBusinessSaturday — a great chance to support the brilliant independents that keep our high streets thriving. I recently visited The Handlebar Café in Oxford with my team. Fantastic food, friendly people, and a reminder of how important our local businesses are.

The Tories botched Brexit deal has left us £90 billion worse per year. The Lib Dems have a plan for a Customs Union with the EU that would bring around £25 billion to the economy. The Lib Dems will bring a vote on this next week and I hope Labour backbenchers will support us.

This week the Health and Social Care Committee published its report into community mental health services. The report is clear that we must take a radical new approach to mental health and indeed its funding.

The Secretary of State for Health is absolutely right that the NHS must innovate and renew. I am concerned that the focus on physical health in last weeks budget risks deprioritising mental health instead.

Today I asked the Prime Minister if he would look at Lib Dem plans to introduce a regulator and a cap on outrageous, rip-off service charges. The stories of Allison and Rebecca being ripped off by the wild west of the service charge sector are sadly all too common.

The news that the NHS may now have to pay up to £3 billion more for drugs from the US is concerning. There needs to be clarity from the Government about who exactly will pay for this. The Government shouldn't prioritise economic growth over the health of the NHS.
