@usedaltima @MichaelKarlis Youโ€™re openly cheering for internment camps and forced castration because the target is a group you politically dislike. History has a pretty ugly track record with people who start fantasizing about camps for ideological enemies.

Imagine if a Republican candidate publicly proposed internment camps and โ€œcastration centersโ€ for another ethnic or religious group. Every cable network would already be running nonstop coverage with โ€œthreat to democracyโ€ banners across the screen. But because the target is โ€œZionists,โ€ people suddenly start looking for nuance.

Hey, Benny. Why donโ€™t you speak up against Jewish leaders who attend Mamdani events? A. Because I donโ€™t run a massive organization that has to work with the city every single day to keep its community functioning. B. Because while I have my own opinions on how this issue should be approached, I also understand that thoughtful people can come to different conclusions on difficult matters. C. Because there are plenty of outside forces that would love nothing more than to see Jews publicly tearing each other apart. D. Because I personally know some of the leaders who attended, and Iโ€™ve seen firsthand their devotion and selfless commitment to their communities. Even if I disagree with them on this issue, I genuinely believe their intentions are sincere.

I thought Israel was a democracy. I thought people were allowed to live where they want, practice what they want, and express their beliefs freely, even when you disagree with them. But apparently โ€œdemocracyโ€ only applies when itโ€™s your side of the aisle. The second @Chabad Jews move into Tel Aviv, open a Chabad house, invite people to put on tefillin voluntarily, or live openly as religious Jews, suddenly democracy gets thrown out the window. You donโ€™t want coexistence. You want ideological uniformity.

This is one of the most important bills in Israel in 2026, and I hope it passes. Nobody is telling people how to live across all of Israel. Itโ€™s a democracy, and people will continue doing what they want. But it is hard to ignore the contradiction when the same people use the talking point during the Israel-Gaza war that G-d promised the Jewish people this land thousands of years ago, yet suddenly disregard that same G-d and his values and principles when it comes to the Kotel. If you believe the argument that G-d gave the Jewish people this land, then you should also respect his holiest site. The Western Wall is not just another tourist attraction or political stage. G-d explicitly says in the Torah, right next to where he promised you the land thousands of years ago, the Western Wall/Kotel is his home.

This is exactly why people think youโ€™re obsessed with Jews. You take one Jewish holiday, remove all context, zoom in on cheesecake, and suddenly act like frum Jews are obliterating their stomachs. Meanwhile you donโ€™t say a word about Super Bowl parties where the vast majority of food is junk, lime alcohol, wings, burgers, fries, hookah, etc, because it doesn't fit your narrative. Most of the Shavuos meals are healthy food such as salmon, eggs, soup, meat, salads, and yes, some cheesecake. Nobody is sitting there force-feeding themselves five cakes. People enjoy a little cheesecake on a holiday. Welcome to life. But because itโ€™s Jews, suddenly it becomes a social commentary and a pathology study.

Nice deflection, but thatโ€™s not what I said at all. The conversation started because I pointed out that she seems obsessed with Jews and frum culture. People receive political spam texts, nonprofit solicitations, marketing promos, and random campaign messages every single day. Yet somehow the outrage only appears when the sender is Jewish, a yeshiva, or a frum organization. That was my original point. Then suddenly you shifted the conversation into class dynamics in shul, socializing, and now into accusations that Iโ€™m calling people not Jewish enough. Those are your words, not mine. You keep changing the subject and putting words into my mouth because your original argument fell apart.

By Chassidim, thatโ€™s usually not how it works. Shul isnโ€™t just โ€œshow up, pray, leave.โ€ People socialize, talk, make kiddush, help each other, build friendships, and actually function like a community. The surgeon and the janitor sit next to each other because nobody cares what car you drove in with or what your salary is. From the way you describe it, it sounds like in your circles people walk into shul one minute before davening, avoid eye contact, and disappear 30 seconds after it ends. If thereโ€™s that much social distance and friction between people in your shuls, that sounds more like a community problem than a frum one.

You shifted the conversation into an entirely different issue. If housing costs, tuition, or the cost of frum life are too expensive, thatโ€™s a legitimate discussion. But that has absolutely nothing to do with publicly obsessing over Jewish spam texts while pretending theyโ€™re evidence of some sinister operation. And ironically, youโ€™re proving my point. Israelis also get spam texts nonstop, yet nobody turns every random solicitation into a social media campaign about โ€œcults,โ€ โ€œmafias,โ€ or dangerous religious Jews. As for the surgeon and janitor sitting next to each other in shul, beautiful. Judaism has always valued people beyond money and status. Thatโ€™s not a flaw. Thatโ€™s one of the healthiest parts of religious community life.

Calling this โ€œsoliciting minorsโ€ is intentionally framing a voluntary religious interaction to sound predatory. Nobody is forcing kids into a van. Nobody is grooming them. A @Chabad guy asking a Jewish teenager if he wants to put on tefillin or visit a Chabad house is no different than any other group inviting young people to participate in their community, values, or beliefs. The difference is that when itโ€™s visibly religious Jews doing it, suddenly people start using loaded language designed to make Judaism itself sound dangerous.

The way some of you describe a Chabad guy offering tefillin, youโ€™d think he was standing outside the school handing out fentanyl. Nobody is being kidnapped. Nobody is being forced. A religious Jew offering another Jew a mitzvah or inviting him to a Chabad house is not some criminal conspiracy. The kids can say yes, they can say no, and life moves on. Chabad does not force Judaism on people. They ask. Thatโ€™s it. If someone wants to put on tefillin, they do it voluntarily. If they donโ€™t want to, they say no and keep walking. Nobody is dragged anywhere. Nobody is coerced. Nobody is โ€œtargeted.โ€ Meanwhile, secular activists, political organizations, influencers, NGOs, social movements, and pride groups openly market their ideologies to children and teenagers every single day, but somehow the real โ€œdangerโ€ is a guy with tefillin standing near a school. At some point this stops sounding like concern for children and starts sounding like pure hatred toward visibly religious Jews.

I highly doubt this is the first spam text she ever received in her life. Americans get random political texts, marketing texts, scam texts, donation texts, and event promos nonstop. The outrage suddenly appears only when the text is connected to Jews, a yeshiva, a Jewish organization, kosher events, or Orthodox culture. Thatโ€™s what people are noticing. Nobody likes spam texts. But acting like a single Jewish event promo is evidence of some sinister operation while ignoring every other spam campaign people receive daily is exactly why people think the reaction comes from her obsession on frum Jews, and not outrage on random solicitation.

Itโ€™s always the same slippery slope argument. A separate prayer section or a religious event suddenly becomes โ€œa plan for religious takeover,โ€ as if secular society is so fragile that seeing religious Jews practice their beliefs in public is an existential threat. Meanwhile, secular culture is allowed to dominate public space nonstop, pride parades, explicit advertising, hypersexualized campaigns, anti-religious activism, nightlife culture, and nobody calls that a โ€œsecular takeover.โ€ Thatโ€™s just considered normal. The issue isnโ€™t public space. The issue is that some people only believe pluralism works in one direction.

In New York City, multiple different Jewish groups live differently in the same city and even in the same borough. Chareidi Jews, Modern Orthodox Jews, Reform Jews, Conservative Jews, secular Jews, all with different lifestyles, standards, religious practices, and views on public life. Some have mixed events. Some are fully secular. Some prefer separate seating and separate menโ€™s and womenโ€™s sections. Society continues functioning perfectly fine with near zero clashes between these Jewish groups. Everybody does their thing and goes home. The problem begins when one side decides only its version of Judaism and tolerance is allowed to exist publicly.

You spent the entire day publicly attacking, stereotyping, and demonizing an entire Chareidi religious community as abusive, primitive, oppressive, mafia-like, cultish, and dangerous, and now youโ€™re shocked that people are angrily responding to you? Nobody should be harassing or threatening you. But receiving backlash after nonstop inflammatory posts against millions of religious Jews is not proof of a โ€œChareidi mafia.โ€ Itโ€™s proof that when you constantly provoke people, people react. You turned one picture of a modest religious girl with a stroller into a manifesto about abuse and cults. At some point this stops looking like criticism and starts looking like obsession.

Modern culture normalized turning womenโ€™s bodies into products for clicks, subscriptions, and validation on platforms like OnlyFans, and calls that โ€œempowerment.โ€ But a modestly dressed religious girl helping with a stroller is what gets labeled oppressive. Some people still believe tznius, dignity, family structure, and privacy are healthier values than teaching young girls that attention and monetizing sexuality are the highest forms of self-worth.
