@mikelima42 Leap are cheap, so I'm hoping Italy can at least take SOME of the positive effect with them even after subsidy end. But ending subsidies so early is not a good idea. Subsidies work only if they exist long enough for people to learn the new tech is better. That takes time.

@leRaffl Small victories! I hope the trend will continue. In March the sales are still influenced by the subsidies from last year. I think in April the effect should be minimal. If sales don't drop too much, it' a good sign. I'm curious to see the effect of gas price on BEV sales.

In terms of BEV, these were the best selling models Jan-Mar 2026. Leap is taking the lead with over 10k, Model Y is 2nd place at 2390 units. Citroen and BYD are close to the Model Y while the Ford is already below 1000 units for 2026 YTD.

These were the top models selling in Italy in Jan-Mar 2026. Please take note that half of the Leapmotor T03 were from March only. Leap seems to be rising quickly.

📊 Update on Tesla registrations in Europe by country: March data is not yet included. Throughout 2025, sales improved quarter by quarter. Hopefully Q1 2026 will continue that trend. I’ll share the full Q1 update at the end of the month once all regions have reported. 🔎 Link to the interactive chart below. You can filter by country and time period.

Tesla reported less vehicles delivered in Q1 than analyst consensus. The trend is not good, but likely something we'll need to get used to as the business is transitioning to TaaS. Still up 6.3% YoY. However: Tesla reclaimed the lead in worldwide BEV sales from BYD it seems...

GOOD NEWS 🚨 With 358,023 vehicles delivered, @Tesla has regained its perch as the world's top seller of battery electric vehicles in Q1 2026, overtaking BYD’s 310,389 units 🔥

📈 @BYD_Europe has now surpassed a run rate of 200k vehicles registered per year. That equates to roughly a 1.5% market share in Europe, with strong growth momentum.

I can only use whatever data I can get my hands on. Also there is no international definition of all of these categories that everyone uses. Don't include X, some don't. Some include Y, some don't. Making it as comparable as I already have was hard enough. Going into even more detail would maybe make things a bit higher quality, but require an amount of time that's not worth this tiny improvement. Also the entire idea of what I'm trying to do is to gain insight into how the global markets develop. For example: In the ANL dataset for the USA, pickup trucks are included, like the Ford F150. To get insight into the US market, this is essential, because cars like these are some of the most sold vehicles in the USA. However, some of these Pickups weigh over 3500 kg, meaning in most of Europe they would be classified not as a car, but similar to a semi truck, and thus would not be part of the registration numbers. But in European, these Pickups are almost irrelevant, so there's no need to classify them the same to get an idea of how the European market develops. Yes, technically not all country datasets entail the exact same car models, but we're here to get insight, not be picky about classifications. And it's similar for fuel types. Some countries give HEV number, some publish PHEV, some publish both, some publish neither, some only publish "Hybrid", and some even define what an hybrid is differently. Is an MHEV a HEV? Is it a hybrid? Should it be part of a "Hybrid" category and be classified in the same as a PHEV? What about EREV? There certainly is room improvement, but I'm the wrong guy to talk to this about. You'd need to Adress the respective national ministry for that. If you feel you can do better, please go ahead and let me know what results you get. I'd be interested. But for now I'm not too unhappy with what I have. Can it be better? Yes. Is it good enough to get the insight I want to get? Probably. Is the improvement worth putting in the required work? Probably not.

Tobi, thanks for the factually accurate and correct criticism about the misleading reports from the German ÖRR about Tesla! Appreciate your your commitment and criticism of WISO media and its likes regarding Tesla reports, which I've been criticizing for years through articles, videos, and social media e.g. x. Unfortunately, the errors in serious, factually accurate reporting by ÖRR are systemic and have followed a pattern for years. It's a disgrace that we are forced by the state broadcasting agreement to financially support such poor and deliberately or unintentionally misleading and factually false reporting. Following similar articles to your complaint and Elon's response on x, I was also subsequently defamed by Deutschlandfunk as a "paid Tesla fan," which demonstrates the public broadcasters' limited willingness to factually and independently verify their own reporting. Unfortunately, many in Germany are losing faith in the ÖRR and are turning to even less reputable sources. My hope that the ÖRR changes to the better is limited as they seem to enjoy defaming Tesla while not retiring to a balances and factually accurate reporting and thus influencing the opinion of the German population with regards to Tesla to the negative. Its totally fine to criticize Tesla but we need the full picture, data and facts from all sides and not just their opinions and selected data to support their obviously wrong narrative. Thank you for your support! @_TeslaTobi youtube.com/watch?v=HE9FOq…

My new car was delivered with software 2026.2.3. It was in the delivery center for over a month. It's now 5 days since delivery. Still no prompt to download the latest version. It used to be within 48 hours of delivery that it would be updated...
