If they don’t act this year, I don’t see them getting a top pick from CGY or VAN and Matthews obviously wouldn’t want to go there

@Matthewsfan_ @Mainely_Leafs My point still stands. The only way they get a haul back in a scenario like this is if he gave the Leafs 2-3-4 teams he’d be ok with. If he only gives 1, they have no leverage in a negotiation. See the Quinn Hughes trade.

I would love for Auston to come back but if he does kick off the rebuild, with the Leafs picking first overall. They will get such a haul that the rebuild will fast forward I'm prepared for both but I still think he comes back. He just wants the team going in the right direction
