@donnachaG07 @charliezeelie @ReinvanRensburg @UCI_cycling Czech Tour TTT stage 1. Look at any TT crash for that matter to see the control in this position. Not many reckless enough to do it in road race, especially a sprint. Look what happened at 3-4km when he switched the rider behind him while in this position. Crashes due switching..

@donnachaG07 @charliezeelie @ReinvanRensburg @UCI_cycling There's plenty of crashes in TTT where that riding position contributed to a crash. First one that comes to mind is last year's stage 1 Vuelta. Point is, it's not suitable in a leadout to a chaotic mass sprint.

@olliesmith_17 @terdofhurtles You often see it in team time trails. Stability is a issue, especially in the leadout to a chaotic sprint finish.

@terdofhurtles So this is where my question comes from. I agree it doesn’t look particularly stable, and I can’t imagine it would take much to cause a crash - but I cannot think of a time this has happened. I’ve seen more accidents in feed zones or from dropped bottles, but these aren’t banned?

@ReinvanRensburg @UCI_cycling 1-2 km to go approaching the most decisive turn into the Finish. Sprint teams make hectic late attempts to get into position. Riders bumped elbowws all over. Last thing you want is a rider at the front of a finale with hands off the handlebar. Unprofessional and unnecessary risk
