👋 Some more information is coming out today, all be it from Luke Edwards, regarding the reasoning behind the sad departure of Amanda Staveley and Mehrdad Ghodoussi from Newcastle United, some 6 months ago and the future direction of travel on transfers and finances. He reports that they were effectively ‘forced’ out of the club because the PCP chief did not have the funds to keep investing alongside the PIF and the Reuben family and were also considered a ‘loose cannon’ and 'crowd pleaser' who did not get on with CEO Darren Eales 🤯 He suggests it looks like Amanda was more focused on the footballing side and wanted to give Eddie Howe and the #NUFCFans what they wanted all of the time. An ambitious and commendable approach, but one that left Newcastle short from a PSR perspective last June, where we were forced into selling Yankuba Minteh and Elliot Anderson in order to avoid a possible 10-point penalty. The Telegraph state that Newcastle’s approach has now changed, with Paul Mitchell’s arrival moving us from ‘short-term decision making’ to ‘long term strategic thinking’ 📊📈 It is a prudent and sensible approach, but it fuels fan frustration. If Newcastle miss out on the Champions League, the hit to their prestige, as well as their finances, will be a painful and a debilitating one.
