Hillary Allen was the first biological female to finish the Trans Atlantic Way 2023 full route ultra cycling race in Ireland today. Congratulations to Hillary! 💪🏆🚴‍♀️ She finished 26 hours behind Cara (Cameron) Dixon, the male that was entered in the women's category.

@civetta @fmk_RoI You’re right of course, it’s unlikely their were many. But then the cloth needs to be cut accordingly and some red lines not crossed - especially when the damage was so utterly predictable. We need our leaders to be so much better.

@LeeVeloCC @fmk_RoI I don't think there are many 'positive sponsors' in the current climate, which is how they've ended up in this mess to begin with, unfortunately.

@civetta @fmk_RoI The damage for both parties of not undoing it could be much worse. There’s an opportunity for some leadership right now to right this, send a positive message and restructure. Positive sponsors won’t go near BC right now.

@LeeVeloCC @fmk_RoI Oh, there's always a choice. But terminating the contract will probably not be financially viable at this point. So there are ideal choices & realistic ones. The 'choice' was made a while back now.

@Andymcgra Really insightful article, thanks 🙏 The vacuum at the top of @BritishCycling on this vital issue is dreadful. It’s a deal made by people with no understanding or empathy for the org that employs them. The anger will not go quietly on this.

I urged British Cycling/CEO Brian Facer to answer my questions, but responses came from Darren Henry instead. Accountability on the matter is still dearly missing from the very top.

@cyclingweekly As a club we renewed affiliation 2 days before the announcement. Is there any alternative to @BritishCycling membership if you race? Could there be? The @Shell_UKLtd Oil partnership is appalling and many feel trapped. Need to keep calling it out.
