Really sad to see someone has taken quite a bit of time to paint over the boxes I did for Rob Burrow and Kev Sinfield near the Rhinos stadium. Why you'd choose to ruin those particular boxes, a tribute to two amazing blokes, is beyond me.

The Leeds Rhinos Players Association are sad to hear of the passing of Sam “Slammin’ Sam” Backo. A great bloke, loved during his time at Leeds in ’88–89. Came off the bench in the Yorkshire Cup semi v Hull & powered over for the winner under the sticks. Unforgettable. RIP Sam💛💙

Deeply sad news overnight in Australia that 80’s fans favourite ‘Slammin’ Sam Backo has passed away aged 64. Sam played seven State of Origin games for Queensland and six Tests for Australia and won the Yorkshire Cup with Leeds in 1988. Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this time, rest in peace Sam Backo
