Today’s quick update [May 12]: - Clashes between SAF and RSF continued in Elfashir for the 3rd consecutive day, reportedly claiming at least 27 civilian lives and leaving 130 injured. - Clashes between the warring factions also persist in Khartoum. #KeepEyesOnSudan

As much as I try to ignore it, it truly hurts to see people who know me speak on every cause on the planet EXCEPT Sudan. It tells me that you don't think the death of my people is worth your time or attention. It's disappointing and personal. #KeepEyesOnSudan

The war in Sudan is not silent. It's forgotten. The news coming out and about Sudan never stopped. It's either ignored or not shared enough. It's not silent. Muffled maybe but that doesn't change the fact that we have been screaming for 8 months. #KeepEyesOnSudan

I have no words for what’s happening across Sudan right now. I feel completely defeated by the widespread, barbaric levels of violence, and the complete lack of protection of civilians. Just, an overwhelming feeling of defeat and despair.

habibi this is literally a calendar with the days of the week written in arabic 😭😭 westerners will literally see anything written in a foreign script and then use that to instil fear in people, preying on people’s lack of knowledge of a language.

Gaza has gas. Sudan has gold. Congo has cobalt. Haiti has limestone. Afghanistan has copper. West Papua has crude oil. Every nation suffering from some form of genocide or intense suffering is attractive in the eyes of the western imperial machine of consumer capitalism.

An Arab student was run over by a pro-Israeli student at Stanford, a mosque was set on fire in Minneapolis, a 6 year old Palestinian boy was martyred in Chicago, a Somali woman was attacked for being Muslim. There is a rise of Islamophobic hate crimes while the world cheers on.

The 2019 revolution was really about securing a better Sudan for these kids. It was hijacked by megalomaniacs and now an entire generation has been uprooted by the ensuing war. Devasting doesn't cut it.
UNICEF Sudan - اليونيسف في السودان@UNICEFSudan

#Sudan records largest child displacement in world with ~3 million children forcibly displaced. Further escalation of war is forcing more children to flee their homes & at risk of violence, abuse & exploitation. Fighting should stop for children to be safe & well, learn & play.

My parents never had a home of their own. We spent our lives living in rental apartments in both diaspora and inside Sudan. My parents dedicated the past six years of their lives building their house, my dad worked tirelessly to make money he could send so that my mum can pay

As Sudanese, we know what a deliberate total blackout feels like, and what it means. As people in the diaspora, we know intimately the terror of having no news, the panic and desperation that takes over your entire being. Praying for Gazans and Palestknians everywhere.
