@profsamperry Insane. I guess if your district is particularly “woke” I could sympathize. I was homeschooled till 8th grade, most of my teachers after that were Christians. One of my closest Christian friends to date is somebody in school I shared the gospel with. Respect other choices people!

Singing my toddler to sleep last night, I did “Twinkle Twinkle” in each of the diatonic modes, and I gotta say Dorian was actually the one that tripped me up the most, just because that first phrase lulls you into thinking it’s normal Ionian

#DisneySongsRanked 77. I Won't Say I'm in Love (Hercules) Score: 415/500 I can already hear the pitchforks being sharpened for this song not being in the top 20, but please, hear me out! Susan Egan, the voice actress for Megara, is perfect for the character. She has this great, haughty, nasal voice that has real heart, and resulted in a lot of us in the 90s having a huge crush on Meg. (It wasn't just me, right?) "I Won't Say I'm in Love" is an R&B number, with the Muses "shoo-wop"-ing in the background, encouraging Meg to face her feelings for Hercules. I have a few little quibbles with this song that resulted in it dropping a bit further down the list than I thought it would. I feel that the Muses and Meg aren't balanced the way I'd prefer in the arrangement, and the powerful voices of the Muses mean that rather than the song having a single climax, it's sort of climaxing for 2 minutes (not something you hear people complaining about often, to be sure). My biggest issue, though, is the lyrics, which are really nothing special, and that the composers didn't give Egan a bit more to do with that wonderful, unique voice of hers.

I read some of the Taylor Swift lyrics. I fear banning her latest album in your home will lend credence to her lyrics in the minds of some teens. A better approach is to use it as a teaching opportunity, discuss the lyrics, why they’re problematic, and why we believe what we do.

I get people’s discomfort, but I’m surprised at the sudden outrage (see False God, Dress, You Need to Calm Down, etc). This isn’t the first time she has referenced sex or critiqued aspects of Christianity

@JenniferJillS Yeah. As far as I’m aware she’s never advertised being a Christian, and there are hundreds of other pop artists that are far more explicit. In fact, it’s extremely mild compared to most pop. We need to teach and equip our kids to be wise in a fallen world.
