I don't care how much money Rick Jackson has, he is 100% losing if Jon Ossoff wins by so much as 5 points.

@MrH4m @BasedIllinoisan Those ticket splits are much more extreme than what we could expect in Georgia where the only demo expected to split their ticket are the ever left-shifting northern atlanta suburbanites. It makes sense for this year to finally be their last straw.

Trump’s job approval rating has plummeted below the level that triggered midterm wave elections vs Clinton 94, W. Bush in 2006, Obama in 2010 & Trump himself in 2018. And yet most surveys do not show Dems establishing a clear advantage in the key races that will decide control.
Ronald Brownstein@RonBrownstein

In Trump I, Ds won ~90% of voters who disapproved of him in most House/Senate races. In polls now, they usually win far fewer of them. That's the biggest yellow light for Ds in 26. But can Rs really hold so many more voters down on Trump thru Nov? My take cnn.com/2026/07/19/pol…

@realPrestonHill I think the gop will run slightly better than 2018 due to dems own mishaps but this was just a specific question about Trump's approvals not about the overall midterm environment

@realPrestonHill I think if the 2022 midterms / 2024 downballot races tell us anything is that even though trump's voters are probably being missed in the polls, that won't automatically translate to non trump gop candidates. It's also a 5 point gap

I feel like an underrated reason Republicans are in for a better year than 2018 is Trump has been the leader in politics for 10 years and the backlash against him will be far weaker than 2018 when he was still fresh on the scene, but now voters are much more used to him.

@hippo_politics @realPrestonHill I didn't challenge that the GOP will do better than 2018, I think you're overinterpreting my question, which was about his approval specifically not the GOP's midterm chances.

@LeftRight234 @realPrestonHill He said republicans are in for a better year than 2018. You challenged that based on trumps approval. I explained how polarization will prevent a wipeout and how approval doesn’t translate to party support because of polarization.

@LeftRight234 he was DSA endorsed in the gubernatorial primary, and the convention. he’s done a couple cross-posts with them on instagram. idk if he’s dues paying member, but he’s definitely aligning himself with them.

@LeftRight234 @realPrestonHill I mean that bad approval doesn’t translate to midterm wipeout. There’s plenty of voters who disapprove of Trump but will vote Republican/Trump/Vance again. I find myself hating his policies sometimes (Iran/science/energy) but I’ll still come home for the midterms.

The Dem establishment deserves every bit of what’s happening to them right now. They’ve spent a decade (at least) nurturing the DSA/squad types because they naively assumed they’d stay obedient and only run in a select few deep blue districts. But of course, kids never listen to their parents forever, and now the DSA is too big for its britches. If the Dem establishment had clamped down on this madness in 2018, the DSA would’ve been a minuscule footnote in American history. But they were willing to tolerate socialist, anti-American rhetoric so long as it didn’t harm them politically. Now, 8 years later, they’re being forced to throw up hail Mary’s left-and-right in ME/WI/MI in a desperate last-ditch attempt to maintain control through underhanded means, because they’ve lost all control through legitimate ones. And that might work to some extent this year, but what happens come 2029 when Schumer and his goons are no longer there to bully out the insane asylum? I think we all know the answer.
Political Election Projections@tencor_7144

The Democratic establishment can only pull strings and force people to drop out for so long. Eventually one of these "unelectable insurgents" is going to go through, because there has been a lot more than "one freak case" of these types of candidates doing well this year.
