A 30-year-old Ethiopian migrant, Tsegaab Ademassu Binessu, has been charged with three counts of second-degree murder after executing three employees inside a St. Paul, Minnesota apartment leasing office.
Prosecutors say Binessu became enraged after being told he could not cancel his recently renewed $ 65-per-month garage parking contract after selling his car. Surveillance video shows him entering the leasing office and shooting all three victims multiple times, with police recovering 21 spent 9mm shell casings at the scene.
The victims were identified as Nansi G. Fuentes Zambrano (25), Dena M. Silcox (56), and Adam J. Wilwerding (43), all employees of Mid Continent Management Corporation.
Investigators say Binessu told them he "hated the American system" and blamed years of unsuccessful attempts to bring his wife and children from Ethiopia to the U.S. for his divorce and family separation. He also claimed he had been treated unfairly because he is Black and an immigrant.
