Two weeks ago I wrote a viral thread about Black women in the 2000’s repurposing + recycling after a woman in sports praised her for “showing that women’s sports merch doesn’t have to be hideous”. And THIS is why I spoke up.

Lol she proved this to y’all and not the Black women who were customizing + repurposing jerseys in the early 2000s?

Black women like @friskmegooddd + @Chakierrah have BEEN upcycling sneakers to corsets + sports duffles to wearable clothes + they’re not afforded the same access, resources + opps. And they’re not the only ones continuing to build upon the foundation laid in the early aughts.

Anyways…the Black History Month section in Target is cute. I picked up a few things when I was in there the other day. 🤎🖤
