@thesoopabees Point on, Gaff. Before Damsgaard came, Jensen played that role. Now he plays deeper and are distributing the ball left, right and center, but not necessary playing the decisive pass as Damsgaard does.

What people’s issue is with Damsgaard is that he’s injured with Brentford and allegedly “goes missing” but when Denmark are playing you can bet your bottom dollar he shows up for international duty.
Of course that narrative is absolute bollocks and like you’ve said people have short memories. I think it’s fair to say Damsgaard definitely has had a disrupted season. I myself was not happy with his first half of the season but since Wolves (away) I can’t really slag off Damsgaard as he’s our most creative player. Using goals and assists to compare it to Jensen though who plays a completely different role when Jensen has probably been our best midfielder this season (bar Janelt) isn’t a good analogy

Damsgaard has more goals and more assists than Jensen this season with less minutes. Yet one gets slandered and the other (rightfully) praised. I get he's not at last seasons standards but our football has changed a lot this season and he's been disrupted with injuries.

I will die on this hill that Frank Onyeka was not utilised properly at Brentford. Don’t get me wrong he had games where he was absolutely useless especially under Thomas Frank. Terrible ball control but his pressing and athleticism was there to see. He reminded me a lot of Vitaly and probably suffered from the same problem. Played a different position for FCM. Norgaard was the main man for Brentford which meant Vitaly couldn’t play as the 6 like he could in the Championship, Onyeka also suffered where he was forced to play a different role. Now Coventry have built the team around him and they’re in great form.
If we kept him I genuinely reckon he would have been a great Janelt replacement in games where we struggled against Burnley, Wolves and Bournemouth

A lot of the reoccurring problems Coventry had in that poor run before January was they became easy to play through, easy to transition against & easy to find joy centrally against them. I can’t even tell you from what I’ve seen how ridiculous of a signing Frank Onyeka has been to stop them things from occurring as often, oh and he clearly can strike a ball. What a signing, they’ve kept 4 cleans sheets in the 9 games he’s played, they’ve won 8 of them games.
