@MamanLunettes He was also a very slow developer (didn’t speak in sentences until 5), which can be common when mom is always around to anticipate their needs/no daycare. I think you have to just meet them where they are at but judge when to comfort and when to set a firm boundary for behavior.

PSA for young moms with difficult babies: my highest needs baby who used to cry inconsolably for hours, never sleep, and melt down if a sock felt different, is now my lowest needs young adult - at 19yo she’s a solid breadwinner I can rely on to run a tight ship for this family

@ouranometrian2 @MamanLunettes I suspect there is. Only if those needs are met. I've heard of babies being left to cry alone and becoming alcoholics.

@MamanLunettes Our first au pair was a high needs child and she turned out to be a very capable adult. Wonder if there is a correlation

Hot take but I think replacing alcohol and cigarettes with SSRIs and anxiety medication and legalizing marijuana has been a terrible mistake.

Asked my 5yo what she wanted for dinner and she said “not a burned quesadilla” because in the summer of 2023 i overcooked one side of her quesadilla.

On high speed @Se_Railway to London. Dover to London. I don't know what has happened to the train/tracks but it is now so bumpy in parts it's proving difficult to write things down or drink a drink. Been taking this train for years, never had this happen before and it is unpleasant.

had about 2 broken hours of sleep yesterday morning and 1 hour of interrupted sleep this morning. that's all i've had since monday. also had 3 nosebleeds since last night. just feeling pretty emotionally and physically fragile. trying very hard not to cry. i think i need to rest.

@Authw8 I've always taken this approach. What I call the 'Ready Steady Cook' method and I agree it is quite a female thing as my husband likes to go out and shop for special ingredients and then cook.

i'm pretty sure every traditional culture cooks the way my grandmother cooks which is she looks around the kitchen to see what she has then thinks of a way to combine them that sounds tasty

@stevemagness Really? How were they coping and handling emotions before? With lesser devices?

40% of two-year-olds now have their own tablet. That’s a problem. Just ask elementary school teachers. Behavior issues are through the roof. And devices are a major reason. Why? We’re training kids to soothe via devices. We are detraining their ability to cope and handle emotions.

@AngieBeatDown My toddlers hated those. And my youngest who objected the most now wears shorts to school in winter. Same idea!

Anyone else’s child a nightmare for keeping the rain covers on the pram? Like I’m just trying to keep you dry!
