I think if you're not interested in the story, FFXIV isn't really for you.
I also run MINE (min ilvl, no echo) savages from previous expansions for fun.
FFXIV isn't WoW or GW2. The endgame raiding isn't so good you should want to skip the rest of the game.

If you’re a new tank pull big, tunnel your rotation, and smash as hard as you can. You pretty much can’t die. If casts go off and others die you’re there standing strong
If you get flamed type “enjoy looking for key for the next hour” then go join a new group instantly

I just started tanking this season Ive timed a 16 and working on resil 15s. I’ve never experienced any of this craziness. It makes me wonder how much effort people are actually putting since they always describe tanking like a fucking PHD 😂

just to be clear, you're free to skip the story but 9 times out of 10 those that do and go immediately into raiding end up looking like this

It’s 2026, we are gonna be 6 expansions deep into FFXIV soon. Can we stop with the weird gatekeepy behavior if someone doesn’t want to play through 250 hours of story to be able to play some of the best MMO raid encounters ever made? Heaven forbid someone asks you a small lore question if they start getting interested in the story after starting the game 10 years late. Are we really gonna keep driving people away with this weird NIMBY ritual? Just use your social skills (lol) and answer the small question, suggest they start a story alt on their downtime, or direct them to a synopsis video on YouTube. Crying about “story skippers” this deep into a game’s development cycle is peak cringe. If they set up a skip to Dawntrail for new characters to jump into the new story arc I and many others feel like it would be beneficial for the game’s long term health. While the Hydaelyn/Zodiark arc is great storytelling it’s also not a sacred cow for people to clutch pearls over. At the end of the day, it’s a game to be played. We’re all better than this and should start acting like it.

@Sylvariae Well in ffxiv I just buy crafted gear from the auction house and start raiding savage. It doesn’t take a whole crest grind and m+ grind to be cranking so it’s quite easy to finish up on WoW then head over and raid savage.

The Switch 2 version requires its own separate monthly subscription from the other versions. However, Switch 2's version doesn't require Nintendo online and if you are also already playing on other platforms it's 50 percent less

I'm not sure I agree with the choices of which tank is in which category, but the system itself is a great idea.
There's always been a tank shortage in this game because a lot of people don't like playing MT specifically. A support-oriented OT role will get more people interested in tanking in general.
