I put my wife and kids above myself as I believe they are more important to the fabric of society. I must conserve that.

Let me introduce you to Amanda Eid and Josh Zurawski, high school sweethearts. They married and immediately worked on expanding their family. They tried to have a baby but failed. Amanda then underwent extensive fertility treatment for almost two years and finally became pregnant. They were overjoyed. It all came crashing down when at 18 weeks her water broke. Her doctor told her the baby would not survive. "We found out that we were going to lose our baby…”Amanda She was fully dilated and was going to miscarry. The pregnancy could not be saved and Amanda was at high risk for infection among other life-threatening conditions. Amanda needed the pregnancy terminated, however under Texas law, since there was a heartbeat the doctor could not perform one. She was sent home, only to return when she felt she had gotten sick enough that her life was threatened. Three days later a bacterial infection had taken over her body. She was rushed to the hospital where antibiotics wouldn’t stop the infection nor a blood transfusion. Family members flew in from across the country as she was admitted to the ICU. Amanda survived but now her uterus is scarred from the infection, and she may not be able to have children.
