The collapse of the long-term private rented sector into short-term holiday lets has resulted in many people not being able to afford to live and work in the Lakes. Local planning authorities must be given the powers to limit the number of short-term lets in their communities.

Our agenda for local government reform and English devolution represents the biggest transfer of power away from Westminster to local communities across England for a generation. This restructuring will improve accountability, enable better frontline public service delivery, and put local government finances on a sustainable footing for the long-term.

These constituency names will disenfranchise English-only speakers. Wales is bilingual and the Boundary Commission must reverse this decision.

The work to repair the foundations, bring in consistent and accountable structures, and shift decision making outwards is not the end in itself. It is a means to realising the change the country voted for, and which the electorate will judge the government on.
