This is Labor to a T. A superficial gesture promoted for unearned adulation while at the same time rushing in new legislation to prevent anyone else from Iran or Lebanon who may already have a temporary visa from coming in and claiming asylum like these women did.

Last night I was able to tell five women from the Iranian Women’s Soccer team that they are welcome to stay in Australia, to be safe and have a home here.

This is one of the most disturbing acts of religious victimisation I have seen in Australian politics. The Taha community in Dandenong are a fantastic group of people who contribute enormously to our local community and are valued members of our society. Yet @JulianHillMP has pulled a significant promised grant from this organisation simply because members of their community were mourning the death of their religious leader — the equivalent, in their faith, of mourning the Pope. That’s right. A community grant has been cancelled because people expressed grief. Before the election, Julian Hill praised this community and sought their votes, calling them an important part of the electorate. Now, instead of standing up for them, he is supporting a decision that punishes them for their beliefs. This is discrimination, plain and simple. It sends a chilling message about religious freedom and respect in our multicultural society. Julian Hill should hang his head in shame.

Anne Aly cancels community centre grant because they mourned Khamenei - this government is obscene.

I love this article about "iPod brain" because it breaks down how technology decisions created an almost insatiable desire for diversity & breadth. Most tech we've seen since has been about narrowing in our filter bubbles; iPods were for breaking them. dirt.fyi/article/2026/0…

@Knock1onheaven2 Okay I cannot co-sign calling this a mid-euro festival thing I thought it was incredible. Even just the river sequence with the youngest daughter, it's legitimately impressive

Palestine Action emerged with a simple premise: that it is right to disrupt the death factories that power the greatest crime of all, genocide. For their heroic efforts, they were branded as terrorists and banned. Now, that ban has been overturned. This is a major victory for the movement, which fought tirelessly to claw breathing room from within a system designed to suffocate our solidarities. This is a powerful reminder that — both within the system and outside it — we can fight back and win if we do not allow the ruling class to intimidate us.

Thermobaric bombs dropped on Gaza which create temperatures up to 3,000 Celsius and are supposed to be banned under international law were used to vaporise nearly 3,000 Palestinians. Vaporise. We're dealing with world-historical evil
Al Jazeera English@AJEnglish

An Al Jazeera Arabic Investigation reveals how Israel’s systematic use of internationally prohibited thermal and thermobaric weapons supplied by the US has left no trace of nearly 3,000 Palestinians it killed during its genocidal war on Gaza. Read more: aje.news/s1ry02
