NEW 'LORD OF THE RINGS' MOVIE Stephen Colbert is co-writing "The Lord of the Rings: Shadow of the Past" (working title), which will go into production after "The Hunt for Gollum." The synopsis: "Fourteen years after the passing of Frodo - Sam, Merry, and Pippin set out to retrace the first steps of their adventure. Meanwhile, Sam’s daughter, Elanor, has discovered a long-buried secret and is determined to uncover why the War of the Ring was very nearly lost before it even began." Colbert is co-writing the script with his son, Peter McGee, and franchise veteran Philippa Boyens. variety.com/2026/film/news…

If you think Death Stranding is boring, you just don’t get it. Not everything needs constant action. This game is about calm and quiet. I love wandering, exploring, or just delivering cargo. Nothing else feels like it

Something they should seriously consider is the proportion of money allocated to creative maps. A large portion of the money generated by developers and collaborations with Epic Games goes toward game modes with no real impact; everyone in the community is talking about it, and they've even used bots to populate those maps.

In the coming days, employers will see a stream of resumes of once-in-a-lifetime quality folks. An important thing to understand is that Epic never lowered our hiring standards as we grew, and the layoff wasn't a performance-based "rightsizing" as companies call it nowadays. It's a sound bet that anyone with Epic Games on their resume is in the top few percent of their discipline.

Sad news for Epic Games. Hope the efforts to turn things around can work. gamesbeat.com/epic-games-lay…

I really wish you’d at least apologize. You guys pay creators of terrible maps that are copy and paste garbage. I’m all for paying different maps that actually bring a good experience but you guys could’ve used all that money to pay the employees that actually did things for the game.

The cloth animation in this game is mesmerizing. There are some very good examples in Rainy's introduction cutscene too, and in the camera mode with the ladies. I wonder if it's real-time or if it's simulated and baked into the animation, since it's all during cinematics

Hit a moment playing Death Stranding 2 where I got electricity gloves and 2 other pieces of equipment that buff melee damage and an entirely new karate moveset that's turned Sam into a delivery themed Tokusatsu Hero. This game kicks so much ass man. I see the vision Kojima.

How about instead of firing 1,000 people Fortnite just brings back the Resident Evil skins? Bringing them to the item shop and all the other rare skins that people want like Rue would literally generate hundreds of millions in revenue.

I'm sorry but I just can't take this seriously. They found a way to save about $500 million in costs...when they're paying out: • Steal the Brainrot -- $24 million • The Pit - $30 million • Go Goated! - $31 million • Bedwars - $11.7 million • Piece Control 2v2 - $20 million Just these 5 maps ALONE have made $116 million in revenue, one fifth of what they saved by cutting costs today. You can imagine how much more they pay out if you decided to go look through some more maps. I'm all for paying creators and rewarding us for keeping players engaged in maps, but when it comes at the expense of Fortnite's budget and the livelihoods of 1,900 employees, they should be the priority...not these maps. Insane... #Fortnite

EPIC GAMES LAYS OFF OVER 1,000 EMPLOYEES "Today we’re laying off over 1000 Epic employees. I'm sorry we're here again. The downturn in Fortnite engagement that started in 2025 means we're spending significantly more than we're making, and we have to make major cuts to keep the company funded. This layoff, together with over $500 million of identified cost savings in contracting, marketing, and closing some open roles puts us in a more stable place."

"If we reduce the number of employees for better short-term financial results, employee morale will decrease. I sincerely doubt employees who fear that they may be laid off will be able to develop software titles that could impress people around the world." - Satoru Iwata
