I very often need to go do something when the baby is sleeping and will think to myself, “it would obviously be totally fine if I left for 20 minutes,” but I never do it, not because I don’t think it would be fine, but because I know that in the unlikely event that something did go wrong or somebody heard the baby crying or something, people would not be understanding.

@Noahpinion Outside of Beshear that list is terrible. It's such a simple calculus. Pick a candidate who can actually win swing states/red states (e.g. Polis, Shapiro, Beshear). Democrats have a lock on states that remains even if the candidate isn't a NY prog. So why run a NY prog?

I will never get over the fact that Disney chose to name the heroes of the Star Wars sequels "the Resistance", despite the fact that the Rebel Alliance overthrew the Empire decades earlier and re-established the Galactic Republic.
There's a broader lesson in there about how modern writers and artists think about everything. They ALWAYS have to be the brave revolutionaries and are never willing to accept that a day could come when they themselves become the ruling order.
