@EilishMccolgan Hadn't clocked this. Is this rule set by the champs? Or individual governing bodies? It feels unnecessary. Every woman in a mass race has the same opportunity to run a qualifying time. As you say, women-only events make for slim pickings.

Why do mens road 10K times qualify for Bham 2026 but not women? The men have pacers in these races so what's the difference? Track 10,000m races are becoming extinct like the dinosaurs. So why restrict women to “women-only” races while men have 100s of chances in mixed races?

It's 72 years to the day since Roger Bannister became the first ever person to run a sub-four-minute mile 🏃 He ran 3:59.4 and was paced by Chris Brasher and Chris Chataway at Iffley Road in Oxford. The mile world record has since been lowered on 18 occasions, with Hicham El Guerrouj holding the current mark of 3:43.13.

I’m confident every creative type has a horror story or two to tell. And yet people still hire them, and trust them. Go on, share your tales of feedback woes. Even better if it’s a bad story turned good.

One bit of bad feedback doesn’t make what you’ve done total garbage. It honestly doesn’t mean you’re a fraud. That you’ve been found out. You’ve been fluking it until now.

We are saddened to learn of the passing of long-standing volunteer, Ivor Wiggett. Ivor held many roles in the sport over the years, officiating as a highly respected Starter and Starter’s Assistant, and Endurance Official. Involved with runbritain from its inception, he was also a Road Race Adjudicator and RunEvents Chair for the London Region. He remained active in the sport; just last year - aged 82 - he adjudicated his 500th race, and officiated at over 60 track and field meets. Just heard someone on radio say "spendthrift" to mean someone who was tight. Actually it means the opposite a spendthrift is someone who spends a lot, extravagant, wasteful. I wonder are there other words are often wrongly used to mean the opposite of what they actually mean?

She's not precious when the corporate machine wants to make her copy more bland. She's not phased when the machinations of business rip up her beautiful prose and ask her to have another go. I totally trust Leigh to just get it right - and she does.

@copycontentw @Matt_Pinner Same. There'll be videos stacked away somewhere, including home videos I hope will never see the light of day. And I still send postcards. I send them to myself too - like pockets of memories with the sort of photo I wish I'd have been able to take.
