@Grummz Lol, that's some pretty horrible AI painting tho, should have never have passed QA, but because it's AI, but because it's just atrociously bad.

People that just want to be mad have discovered what appears to be an AI painting in Crimson Desert. Of course, this means the entire game must be cancelled now. The same people that tell you to shut up and enjoy games is completely losing it over this in a fit of hissy rage.

@jden1035 @kabrutusdeid Totally. I stopped caring much about graphics circa 2012. We need better systems, real creativity, no just photorealism.

@kabrutusdeid People put way too much emphasis on graphics. I would rather a game have good gameplay than super realistic graphics.

The double slit experiment is the probably most misunderstood experiment ever. I have no idea who created the myth that if you 'look' at one of the slits, then the particles (photons/electrons) stop behaving as waves. It's wrong! They of course STILL behave as waves! Because particles are also waves, always. Photons and electrons make a self-interference EVEN ON A SINGLE slit. Don't believe it? Below an actual measurement from a laser diffracting on a single/double slit from Wikipedia. What happens if you measure which slit the particle goes through is that you get no interference between BOTH slits. And no, you don't need a conscious observer for this. Believe it or not, there have actually been experiments where they had people literally look at a double slit to see if that makes any difference and the answer is no, it does not. The entire mystery of the double slit is in the path of the particle TO the double slit. Because it seems that the particle must "know" whether it WILL be measured at one of the slits before it even gets there. It must "know" whether to go through both or just pick one. Seems like the future influences the past? Not really, it just means you have a consistency condition on the time evolution.

@curtdoolittle @DaveShapi Sometimes larger roads brings even more traffic, that's what will happen with AI and jobs. The amount of research I've been doing in the last 2 years because of AI is enormous, I simply got more things to do, not less.

DAVID'S MISUNDERSTANDING OF AI-AGE ECONOMICS @DaveShapi David. Sorry man. Love you, but you've malinvested in an unlikely determinism because you cannot imagine, despite historical evidence, what could be done if in fact much white collar labor is replaceable. But you have overcommitted at this point and won't correct because of that malivestment and overcommitment: you're a normal human. We will, like the Athenians and Egyptians reallocate labor from text to action and improve our commons. Eventually we will find new opportunities that favor a different set of status signals and their pursuit by a different category of production. RE: youtube.com/watch?v=l_B3dg…

I believe the chance of #bitcoin NEVER hitting another all-time high is higher than it hitting one. I believe the chance of #bitcoin hitting 0 is way smaller than it just dragging along at a few thousand USD. I act accordingly.

Catholicism has 2000 years of institutional accumulation, so the person who adheres to it feels like an heir to Augustine, Aquinas, Gothic cathedrals, the Renaissance, a millennial intellectual tradition. It's identity by association, he didn't produce anything, but feels he "belongs" to a lineage that did. The Protestant at least has to fend for himself with the Bible. The Catholic leans on an institution and inherits prestige effortlessly. And this arrogance manifests itself in a specific and irritating way, the traditionalist Catholic looks at the evangelical and sees an ignorant hick, looks at the atheist and sees a shallow materialist, looks at the Protestant and sees a heretic without tradition. He positions himself as the adult in the religious room "we have Thomas Aquinas, you have a garage pastor". It's a hierarchy of status disguised as theological depth.

Todas as avaliações neutras que eu tenho visto, inclusive de analistas israelenses (como esse), concordam que o Hezbollah está atuando de forma muito mais eficiente do que nos últimos anos.
Shaiel Ben-Ephraim@academic_la

Hezbollah has completely shifted its tactics from previous rounds of combat with Israel. This has led to a very different confrontation this time: 1) They moved from a a centralized model, with large weapons depots that allowed them to quickly mass-coordinate massive rocket barrages to wide dispersal. 2) There are now hundreds of small hiding spots across villages and homes are exponentially harder to map and monitor than a handful of large depots. This means that destroying one cache no longer cripples a whole sector's firing capability. 3) This structure has allowed them to maintain a steady volume of attacks, often executing dozens of "waves" per day. This suggests they have pre-positioned "fire-and-forget" kits that allow even small cells to maintain pressure without constant restocking from central hubs. 4) The downside for them is that coordinating a simultaneous large barrage from dozens of dispersed locations is logistically very complex. Communication and coordination between scattered cells creates more exposure points. 5) To counter Israel’s electronic surveillance and previous infiltration of communication networks (like the 2024 pager explosions), Hezbollah has reverted to guerrilla-style communication. This includes banning mobile phones in the field and using human couriers or closed, hard-wired systems to minimize their digital footprint. 6) Dispersing weapons into private homes in Shia villages is a well-documented Hezbollah tactic going back years, but doing it at this scale is notable. It complicates Israeli targeting legally and politically, and puts Lebanese civilians in genuine danger. 7) Beyond rockets, Hezbollah is increasingly relying on UAVs for both reconnaissance and suicide strikes. These are harder to intercept than standard rockets and allow for "loitering" threats that complicate Israeli air defense calculations. All of these elements leave the IDF feeling like they are hunting for ghosts. The IDF Intelligence Directorate have admitted that this decentralized model creates "operational gaps," particularly in tracking small, mobile anti-tank teams and low-flying drone units that slip past traditional radar.
