@SwiftSecur1 @IceSolst @AnthonyBendas yes! agreed, eventually those testers will need to communicate their findings right? so if they can show that ahead of time that's a huge value checkmark already

@IceSolst @Level_Effect @AnthonyBendas 100%.... imo its not enough to hire a tester that just has a certificate... they need to demonstrate they have that curious mindset to research, learn, adapt etc for me thats way more valuable than any certificate.

I keep seeing these cybersecurity resume mistakes, so here's some advice: > Marking tools as skills. Metasploit is not a skill. Assumed breach testing is. Procmon is not a skill. Windows forensics is. Highlight your abilities, then let your resume back it up. > No metrics, or scattering them. "4+ years IT as a SysAdmin, oversee 1,000+ endpoints, 50 accounts, 25% fewer compromise events" Should be line one on page 1, not hidden in bullets on page 2. > Not showing experience when lacking it by title. Home lab projects, write ups, and research go at the top. They ARE your experience in this case.

Position your value: - if you're in school or studying or career changer then you have no professional experience, so you must show your home labs/projects/research high up - don't bold random things, and keywords/tools are NOT skills, but what you do WITH them are

Important metrics: - Time saved/protected - Money responsible for / prevented loss - Endpoint coverage / account coverage - # of things/items did, and results of it - and so on

"4+ years IT, Senior SysAdmin, manage 1000+ endpoints, 50 clients/accounts, and achieved a 25% reduction in account compromise events." was only discovered after reading various points on the resume and should have been communicated from the start

Aim for this: - Years exp - Current seniority level - Metrics achieved - Metrics responsible for - Major milestone/achievement

I’ve reviewed a lot of resumes over the years as a hiring manager and helped quite a few students land offers. One even got a job offer after I reviewed their resume live on stream. This Friday, July 17 at 12PM EST I’m doing another live resume review session. I’ll randomly select 3 to 4 submitted resumes and spend 10 to 15 minutes on each one.
